WHAT´S AN ARTIST?
First of all, we should establish the difference between an “artist” and someone who does paintings. The artist is pure Philosophy; he creates his own micro-world and gets his nourishment from it. And, as a result, he offers humanity those pearls that are his paintings. That combination of his world, his work and his BEING is strengthened as he exercises his own individuality so that in the end they become one and the same thing. Someone who does paintings is a scrounger trying to make a living by entering the world of art. He could be doing any other thing, it’s just a way of making money, but there’s nothing behind his work.

The work of LORENZO LARA is drenched in a deep spirituality. Being an expert in Hindu philosophy, he has been searching for many years, just like the pearl fisher does in the sea, until he has discovered the best pearls of the great philosophies and religions of the world, finding his own being and his own wisdom. He continuously practices both in his Temple located by the sea in a quiet and bucolic Cantabrian village, just a few kilometers away from Santillana del Mar and its astounding caves (Altamira), Sistine Chapel of the Cave Art. This website offers a virtual visit to the Temple and the Museum, as well as a meditation on the life of the artist, his work, his future and how both things fuse in the present and expand in a promising and wonderful future.
The artist evolves by growing spiritually and grows by evolving artistically. And this dichotomy sublimates both aspects leading him to an infinite creativity. Something that only the human soul can reach, as it is pure boundless creativity; by entering into it he enter the source of all good, all bliss and all perfection, creating and photographing impossible landscapes with strong colors in his paintings and sharp drama in his photographs.
The coming together of these two sides, joy and the pain caused by the destruction of Nature, blends in perfectly producing a full and spherical work.
You cannot understand the painting of an artist without taking into account at least part of his work and you cannot understand an artist without having stepped into his shoes for at least part of his life.
LORENZO LARA hates those so-called gallery owners -art merchants would be a better name- that try to judge his work just by looking at one painting. They don't help the world of art in general nor the artist, thanks to whom they make a living, nor their own clients, when they don't take the time necessary to understand what an Artist is.
